Growing Access To Lecture Capture (GALA)
The purpose of this project is to improve and add consistency to the assessment of all undergraduate programmes across the institution.
This is a 3 year project 2019 to 2021, designed to expand lecture capture to all our learning spaces.
This project will take a holistic approach to growing access by:
Increasing the number of lecture capture enabled rooms
Making improvements to the procedures for using lecture capture and supporting lecture capture
Reviewing and refreshing our current lecture capture policy
Raising staff and student awareness of the benefits and effective use of lecture capture
City has been using lecture capture technology to support the student experience since 2013 and we have seen a year-on-year increase in the number of lectures recorded across all Schools.
This project aims to address the uneven provision of lecture capture by expanding it to all of our centrally timetabled learning spaces, regardless of size, which is approximately 200 hundred spaces.
The GALA project will run concurrently with and as an addition to the DALI project. It runs in conjunction with DALI as lecture capture was previously available only in rooms seating 60 students and above.
You can follow the GALA project on the Learning at City Blog which is publicly available, our posts are tagged GALA and Lecture Capture and all posts are tweeted by @CityUniLEaD.
The project is sponsored by Professor Debra Salmon. If you would like further information about GALA, please contact Sandra Partington in LEaD.
